The Karst is a unique landscape shaped by the millennial dissolution of limestone and dolomite. Slovenia is a Karstic land in the truest sense; it was here that scientists first explained these phenomena, lending the name of this region to similar landscapes worldwide. Beyond its thousands of subterranean wonders, the region entices with authentic gastronomy — from traditional jota and herbal frtalja to wines praised since the times of the ancient Greeks and Romans. Your journey begins with a visit to the Škocjan Caves, considered one of the most extraordinary cave systems on the planet. Their fame is rooted not only in hosting one of the world’s largest underground canyons but also in a unique geological beauty that leaves every visitor breathless. Due to their exceptional natural value, the caves were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1986. A walk high above the roaring Reka River reveals the raw power of nature in its most monumental form. From the depths, we ascend to the sun-drenched plains of Lipica, home to the famous white Lipizzaner horses. The history of this site and its equine traditions are inextricably linked with the Habsburgs, who ruled much of Baroque Europe for 650 years. Because the soil and climate of the Karst mirrored that of Spain, Archduke Charles established the Royal Stud Farm here in 1578. For lunch, you will discover the essence of Karst flavors. We will serve authentic Karst prosciutto (pršut), perfected by the sharp Bora wind, paired with a glass of Teran — a full-bodied, ruby-red wine that draws its character from the unique red soil (terra rossa). The path leads us to Štanjel, one of the oldest settlements on the Karst, enchanting visitors with panoramic views from Turn Hill. The castle complex, the Church of St. Daniel with its iconic lemon-shaped bell tower, and the renowned Ferrari Garden are supreme examples of architectural heritage. Under the vision of architect Max Fabiani, Štanjel has preserved its true Karst soul.

At its heart lies Celje — once the seat of the House of Celje, the last great Slovenian dynasty that rose to the heights of European aristocracy. After a traditional lunch in Celje, you choose your afternoon: the vibrant Green Gold Beer Fountain at Žalec, where you taste local Savinja-hop beers straight from an architectural fountain — or the ancestral Žovnek Castle, a peaceful ruin allegedly built under Charlemagne as a stronghold against the Avars. We then descend into Anthony's Main Road, the oldest preserved entrance to the world's second-largest mercury mine, before ascending to Gewerkenegg Castle — a Renaissance palace of industry where Idrija's world-famous lace is still hand-crafted today. A traditional lunch brings you the exquisite Idrijski žlikrofi, the first Slovenian dish to receive the EU's Traditional Speciality Guaranteed status. Our journey concludes at the breathtaking Kamšt, a 1790 engineering marvel boasting the largest wooden water wheel in Europe. A late afternoon return to Ljubljana concludes your journey through Idrija's silver and art.

Dolenjska (Lower Carniola) is a Slovenian region that, in its essence, most closely resembles Tuscany — yet offers an authentic experience of lesser-known, hidden gems. At its heart lies the green Krka River, lined with castles, ancient towns, and mystical monasteries that still breathe in their own natural rhythm, far from the crowds. It is the cradle of the Iron Age Situla culture and the home of the unique Cviček wine, cherished by locals in their hilltop vineyard cottages (zidanice). Our journey flows with the Krka. Instead of the fast highway, we choose the local road that winds right beside the river, passing dreamy villages and old mills where time seems to have stood still. We stop in Žužemberk, where the mighty castle of the Auersperg family still reigns over the river's limestone pools, before climbing into Novo mesto — the world capital of Iron Age situla art. A stroll through the only water castle in Slovenia — Otočec Castle, sitting on an island in the middle of the green Krka — brings us to the day's highlight: a traditional lunch on Trška gora, the region's most famous vineyard hill. Amid breathtaking views of the Krka Valley, you taste local specialties paired with a glass of fresh Cviček, a wine that exists only in these lands. The tour concludes with an arrival in Ljubljana in the late afternoon.
