Description

Visit the north-west corner of Slovenia with the Triglav National park nestled in the heart of the Julian Alps where you will wonder at the unforgettable and pristine alpine gorge Vintgar, Peričnik waterfall, the ski slopes of Kranjska gora and discover what Planica means to Slovenians.

Program

Trails, narrow passages, and bridges will lead us through the 1,600 m-long wild Vintgar gorge, marked by the magnificent 16m-high waterfall, Šum, the highest fluvial waterfall in Slovenia.

We will then head to Mojstrana, where we will visit The Slovenian Alpine Museum, a unique Alpine and mountaineering centre in Slovenia.

Afterwards we will make a stop at the Peričnik waterfall in the Vrata Valley, one of the highest waterfalls in the country.
The Vrata Valley (Door Valley) leads to the base of the northern wall of Slovenia’s highest peak, Triglav. The ‘Aljažev dom’ mountain hut in the Vrata Valley is the starting point for trips and mountain tours to Mount Triglav, as well as to the Škrlatica Mountain, Stenar Mountain, and the Kriški podi plateau.

After lunch break in Kranjska Gora, an alpine ski resort, we will visit Zelenci, a small lake, which is considered as one of the mainsprings of the Sava River.

Our last stop is going to be Planica. We can say it with certainty – this Valley under the Ponce Mountains is to blame for our belief that a man can indeed fly on skis. The Nordic Centre in Planica offers an exceptional environment for continuing the Slovenian tradition of sky jumping and flying, as well as for cross-country training and competition.
